Time to bid Paris farewell and jet off to Barcelona. Although Jeorgia has some trepidation about flying on anything that doesn’t have the United logo on the tail, we arrive safely and get to the hotel in the early afternoon.
This is our third stay at the Grand Hotel Central. It’s on the dividing line between Barcelona’s Gothic quarter and the Born - both ancient neighborhoods with small winding streets, many closed to vehicular traffic. Crammed with restaurants and shops.
Check in gets off to a great start as they offer us Cava - welcome to Spain! After settling in, a trip to the rooftop sky bar and pool - great views of the city and a relaxing atmosphere in the middle of the city.
We depart the hotel for our 3 hour food tour - crisis strikes. We don’t connect with the tour - I give myself the penalty flag but it is a disappointment to miss a great tapas and wine tour (spoiler alert - this get rescheduled). We end up back at the hotel and they find a table for us at their restaurant. Surprisingly they have a tasting menu paired with wine (which I snagged) or paired with cocktails (what? And, yes, J jumps on this). So, a missed tour turns into an opportunity and Jeorgia discovers a new favorite drink or two. Oh, Kathy had a wonderful dinner as well.
A day without photos but full of memories all the same.
