We’re up and on multiple missions today. Jubilee festivities have finally ended, it’s David’s birthday, and we can get on with being tourists.

But wait, let’s upgrade these missions with a massive Tube strike.

Whomp. Whomp.

Right, one very long Uber ride later…

We’re in the queue for the British Museum. Bags checked, filed in, and devices queued up for an audio tour. Couple bumps with the app but we’re going to make it work. Rosetta Stone, check. Family splitting up a bit, no trouble. Greek statues, check. David interrupts my tour and tells me he is seeing ghosts. Sure, okay. Then Ella decides we should be listening through the same headphones because the audio app isn’t working well for her (me either as it turns out). David comes back and proves his ghosts are real. He introduces his high school friend he hasn’t seen since the late 80s (though they have spoken a few times over the years). What are the odds, halfway around the world with his wife and four daughters, roaming the British Museum at the same time as us? Did we get a photo? No.

We eventually catch up with everyone else and find they’ve all abandoned “the top 10 things to see at the British Museum” in the audio tour because multiple items were closed, out on loan, or out for cleaning. For lunch we meet at the top of the museum. Due to a limiting list of options, Jeorgia makes up a drink—pineapple juice with mango vodka or something—and takes in a compliment on her lashes.

Off to the Tower of London, after another painful Uber ride. We had a jovial tour guide, saw some crown jewels, most everyone is ready to chill after all of this.

You know what that means, to the Traitor’s Gate pub for a pre dinner romp! Followed by dinner at the Sky Garden for fantastic views and great food, and a little celebration.
