A zippy flight down the coast for me, but a longer stretch for August 1--and don't you forget it--coming in from O'Hare. August (1!) is a nervous passenger as I am trying to read directions and drive at the same time. Arrive at the Hotel Del Coronado to bushels of blue hair and no room availability. So, what to do . . . Two plus hours in the Sun Deck Bar and Grill, and a stroll, carrying a few too many items, along the beach. This place must be special, the sand is strewn with grains of gold! We finally land a room in the Ocean Towers, settle in and head out to Seaport Village. Not at all awesome. The best part was the guy on the pier feeding his named sea gulls. I indicated to August that surely HE must be available. 😏
Next stop was Little Italy for some dinner. Recommended place is clearly great as it is packed and there is no parking anywhere near. Head back to Hotel Del to catch a meal, and while we certainly had parking, no availability for dinner (the joint is packed; blue haireds have money). So, shared hamburger in the room and an early crash. Hitting La Jolla in the morning.
