It's April! Spring has sprung. In Houston we've already had a few days of beautiful cool crisp mornings only to be beaten down by 80 degree highs with 80% humidity. We're looking forward to heading out of town for what typically is a fun eat, sleep, and be merry weekend visit with extended family in the northern Midwest. This time around folks get to meet our final addition to the family. Fortunately, we were also able to talk (most) of the west coast crew into traveling as well!

The flight countdown started for them already, with the Houston crew following suit a few hours later. There is at least one adult in the group that is days this side of what we're guessing was an upper respiratory illness. We have a 13 year old who has been running a fever for a few days and another adult gurgling up special moments not unlike a cat with hairballs. Then there is a 5 year old who just came off an ear infection and then immediately tested positive for Type B influenza (he's 24 hours fever-free now). Followed by a 9 month old who picked up what we hope to only be basic germ companions disguised as extra baggage while waiting for her brother to be diagnosed at the doctor's office.

I recently read that sowing seeds before the last frost of the season is recommended. I also recently read, "The only dependable fact when it comes to the weather in Spring in Chicago is its changeable nature." Shaping up to be the perfect storm for us!
